Is there even a nub sticking out or is snapped off completely? I don't think the bolts are a part of the header because I have the bolts that screw into the header and Y-pipe sitting in front of me. I was going to replace the ones that came with the car but didn't bother as they were in decent condition. Anyway, if there is a piece sticking out, try to remove it with a pair of pliers.

or if you can see if you can look through the engine bay to the top of the header and that would help you to see if the bolts are a peice of the header. If there is a nub try hitting it with a hammer to brake it loose it could be there is a ton of build up on the other side

ill try that. or ill take it to a mechanic buddy and have him work his magic....i hope.. damn things are a pain in the **** because of the rust factor associated with exhaust pieces.... can we say "Cement"! Im not Mr. mechanic by any means, im just very mechanically inclined so small projects like this are easy for me. if im wrong about any of the things i posts by all means feel free to correct me or suggest fix's I luv the max community u guys rok!

P.S. Using P.B. Blaster on the nuts before taking them off is the ONLY way to go, that sht works great!

they are not part of the header, the are double sided studs, you will have to get new ones if the snap, and look out if they snap inside the block.

You will have to drill them out. Had it done on my 3rd gen. What a bich.

True the only way to get off the orginial y-pipe is to use Pb blaster. I did it to my car and go it off easily.
