if ur gonna paint it, just do the skyline mod, its on the forum here somewhere. but if u wanna paint the inside, i think u can put them in the oven and hear them up. it should be the same as doing the red/clear mod. thats def on the forum somewhere.

not sure if you want to heat up the gen1 altezzas too much. I'm guessing the cheap paper liners and plastic bits of the gen1's will melt pretty easily. Maybe heat it up to 100f for a bit and then check if the plastic cover is easier to get off, assuming heating it up in the first place is even required.

damn gen1 altezzas!

sorry, edited my post after your reply. thought you were talking about ae mod to use as guide for skyline mod. I'm going to try it too cuz I think the gen1's aren't too good looking. just check out my cardomain page for proof.

Thanx, for the replies, but is anyone sure if I have to heat them up ?

just for fyi, although i don't think it makes any difference i have the gen3's

Project Neptune, if you haven't already figured it out with the fuse box. there are two screws (10mm) under the lip of the fender, you have to stick your head in and look up under the lip. one in front near lf headlight and one in the rear near the interconnects

Mike, let's hold hands while we do this together.

Really though, take a look at my sig to see what I did with my gen1's to know that I feel your pain. I want to do EXACTLY the same thing you want - skyline mod of the gen1 biatches, but not paint the plastic cover - that reeks of cheapo.

So based on what I've read so far, I say we try either heating in an oven at something less than 200deg F or take a look at our gen1's and see if the ribbed plastic is just a cheapo snap-on part. I have mine still on my car so I haven't gotten around to this mod yet. If the plastic is not glued on but somehow "snapped" on, the oven/heatgun/hair-dryer route is obviously not the way to go.

Anyhoo, I'll be covering up the bullsh1t carbon fibre altezzas I have in the next few weeks. More important mods need to be done before that though.

Bill.

I just masked off the outer glass portion of the fake chrome trim and painted it. non-metal primer, 4-5 coats of the bm1 blue paint, clear coat.
