Headers
From your findings, Ceasar, they seem to give more torque than hp. Is that a correct assumption? I mean, the 1/4 mile times are not a lot better.
I guess some of that might be due to your clutch. Maybe it was on its last leg.
I know you can get them from www.southwestautoworks.com.
**Tell them that Brudaddy from the .org sent you.

You got a point, iwannamax96. I see what you mean.
Still, if the headers add that much torque and hp, even without a MEVI, he should be able to shave a little more off of the 1/4 mile times with the headers. (although not right now, because he it down from needing a clutch).

He would see more than 5 HP or w/e it is over a y-pipe if he had the MEVI. You can remove all the exhaust restriction, but if the engine cannot breathe on the intake side, it's worthless, on top-end at least.
y2ksesteve, would it still be worth getting a MEVI if you cannot extend your rev limiter?
I was under the impression that it would not be worth it. That is just what I am thinking because I am 99 and there are no ECU upgrades for me.

There really is no point for you as the loss in the low and mid power would negate everything you gained after 5500rpm. Unless you drive above 5500 rpm most of the time it would be a waste of money. DE-K!DE-K!!!
Man dont listen to big d, he doesnt know what hes talking about, together the y and the heads should give you about 38-42 +hp, and OBX makes headers for our car cause I just orderd a pair for 325 shipped guys!!! hhaha
Shut up moron. I was talking about the MEVI. As for the OBX headers, good luck with that. 42hp? WOW. Been on crack lately? How can those shorty headers from OBX give more than 2x the power of the ypipe when even cattman headers don't give more than 20hp to the wheels. If you get the headers within a month I'll give you a buck. Last I heard they don't even exist. You are about as knowledgable about cars as the amish. You shouldn't talk like that to people who may know what you look like.
I love my headers, and would never go back to stock. Every time there is a post all the people that don't have them always seem to know more than the people that actually have them and use them every day.
You should listen to the guys that have them, since they know what they feel like. Some times paper number don't mean much when there is so many other variations that can make your care feel much powerful one day, and the next all sluggish.

Im wondering if the gains are good enough for me to ditch the y ang go the header route?
Did you have a y pipe before the headers?
Ni_Nos_Maxima, and Big D
You guys should PM each other if you want to argue.
The threads are here for us to learn from others experiences not hear you guys disagree.

Yes I did feel a big improvement over my old cattman Y pipe. The thing is that the Y pipe has more power on the low end than the high end. The headers make the power all the way on the curve. The high end power is so much better as well that makes my 4th gear feel almost like my 3th. The headers are definitely a great investment if you plan on getting the MEVI, since the headers help to gain a little of that mid range power plus adds more after your 5K range.
Now these two combined with an ECU upgrade, and a full exhaust system, will make any maxima owner

they had the OBX listed for the Maxima, but were never made. Some how they never updated their list, because many sites still show that list. But you won't find those

what did he order for 325 then?????
You have to realize that NiNos is brain dead. He makes stuff up to feel better about himself. I mean he thinks he can get 40hp out of a ypipe and headers that don't exist. Like I said, a y gives 15hp and the heads give maybe 5. Not sure where you got the other 20. You keep proving you know nothing about cars.
Sorry Flavor I had to say that cause people would start thinking that the OBX headers actually exist.

they have them listed on their web page im writing obx to see what they have to say
H95976 Maxima 95-97 3.0L n/a $499.00
http://www.obxracingsports.com/perfo...=3&subcatID=22
plus theres a few places that also have them listed at $325.00 but maybe its wrong

Once again, they DON'T EXIST. If they did and they in fact are long tube headers as shown, tons of people would have them. Why would they get the Cattman headers if these are available? They aren't! If Ninos gets them then we are all wrong.
Optimus310 or Ceasar, you have any pictures of the headers on your Max? I'm curious to how the fitment of them aligns up to the rest of the engine space....I'm almost sold on these....I perfer the NA route of performance and these are tickling my pickle.....ooooo it feels nice.
