my tranny problems are now over....

my tranny problems are now over because my tranny has stopped working all together. my car is now parked in the back of my driveway. heres wat happened, i drive down to meet some friends some 60miles from my house. i pull over to call for directions and i hear a noise from my car which sounded like i was dragging something. we look and cant find anything. people say maybe its an axle or that im out of tranny oil so we let the car sit overnight in the same spot since its like 11 already and to late to try and fix it. this morning we get back to my car and my pops tells me that he's not gonna help me fix the car so i need to get the car home. i turn the car on and it now makes noise even when its in neutral. the tires are shaken and my car is just freaking out. so i put it into gear and its now making lots of noise. we turn it back off and then call for a tow home cause i dont want to drive it while its acting like that. 250-300 bucks for a tow.... so i say let me drive it home on my own. i honestly get 10ft onto the highway and my front wheels slam to a stop in the middle of the road. it wont get out of first until i pry it out, then it wont go forward in any gear but 5th. so i go to the side of the road in 5th gear and then 5th gear craps out on me and the clutch loses all feeling. my car shuts off and it hasnt gone turned back on since. so after pay for a tow home ( 260 bucks) and my friends saying that my main bearing is shot thus eating my clutch i now need a new tranny.

my thing is this, if i need a new tranny i want to get one that i would be happy with. since my car isnt moving any time soon i want to try n fit a 3.5 motor into my car and the 6 speed tranny or just going for the lsd tranny for my car. i dont kno if anyone has swapped in a 6-speed tranny or the 3.5 motor into thier car, but if anyone has or someone knows who has done it please post info on that so i can begin my planning for this mod if its possible. also if this isnt possible to swap the 6sp of the 3.5 then wat would i need to make a lsd tranny work in my car.

thanks for reading about my dead car....
Will

ohh also thanks to anyone who posts some kind of info on gettin my tranny swap done and my car running again.

buy a bulletproof tranny, lightened flywheel, and a fancy clutch...

if i had the cash to throw in a 3.5 max engine... i'd do this instead: http://maxima.cardomain.com/member_p...=182969&page=7 add in a 2k max intake manifold, pathfinder throttlebody, and the ecu with an 8k rev limiter.. talk about a beast of an engine i would love to hear the sound it would make...

Just drop in a 2k-2k1 tranny. TONS more durable than the 4th gen tranny and WILL fit.

i just read the faq's fully and i now see that the 3.5 motor swap may not be happeneing with my limited funds... my last question is wether the 6sp tranny would bolt up to my car's engine.

Wouldn't be worth the time, money, or effort. Your best bet is the 5th gen 5-speed.

It has been done before though, IIRC.

I'd take your tranny to a reputable transmission shop and have them crack it open for you; most places will do that for free, and it can't hurt.

There's really no significant difference between the 2000-2001 tranny and the 4th gen tranny. The only reason these guys don't have many problems is:

1) The 3.0 DE-K 5th was only made for 2 years and very few were sold with 5 speeds. The 4th gen has sold between 95-99 and there are a ton more of them on the road.

2) The DE-K 5th gens typically have far fewer miles than the 4th gens.

3) There aren't remotely as many guys out there racing on their DE-Ks as there are with their 4th gens.

1. It's a fact that the 5th gen 5-speed has a stronger 3rd gear. Different part # and all. Ask BigDogJonx for the details. Other gears including 2nd and 5th might have been strengthened also, but I don't want to speculate.

2. My brother has a supercharged 2K1 with ACT clutch and bangs into gears like no other and the tranny hasn't blinked for 30,000+ miles with the mods.

3. Alot of the 4th gen trannies that are F-ing up is with N/A use. How many boosted 5th gens w/ACT's have tranny problems?

4. ??
