opinion: best lowering kit

i have a 99 max and i am either going to get 17 or 18 inch rims, however, i want i nice stance on my max. i want the tire to hug the wheel well but not quite go past the wheel well while stopped. I am keeping my regular tire diameter so the size of the rim doesnt really matter.. i just want some opinions on what would be the best lowering kit to get the look i want [ im thinkin about going for the illuminia kit on CM.com, but i have heard that the drop isnt very noticeable.. true?]

For what you said, Sprint springs or Tein S-Techs.

i would take it to a place to make sure if you need it or not. you might not, but get it checked to make sure. just do things rights, and it iwll be better. check you alignment to cuase that you will probely have to get done.

but by the sound of you questions it seems lie you are doign things the right way! i am about to drop my car in 2-3 weeks.....i cannot wait.

I like the illuminas alot! They are also adjustable, but you alter the bound and re-bound when you make an adjustment. I think the AGXs adjust only 1 of them (bound maybe?). I think the majority of opinions I've seen favor the illuminas over the AGXs. You're definitely on the right track with picking an adjustable strut. It's a must in my book.
I have the Tokico kit, and I love it. Sounds like you are looking for more of a drop though. There is still a gap, but the drop is DEFINITELY noticeable. Looks great IMO.

we all have a opinions on which is a better strut, but fact is that some are more than others. That is why i am going to the agx's. they are ajustable but maybe nt as good of a ride. but to save $200 i will rather do that, the agx's will suit my needs, and i can use that $200 to buy some new springs.

i am 18 and have a ****ty job. it sounds like agx's and illu. are competing against each other in a way just go with you can afford. if you get the more exspecive go for it.

I have the Eibach pro kit on mine and I drive on 18's. It is one of the cleanest looking, yet still aggressive, stances I have seen on a Max yet. Of course, I like the handling as well.

I just got some Illuminas from someone here on the .org, but I was wondering how to adjust them. I have not installed them yet, and have not really seen where to adjust them. Any help, Gibby?

I would go with the Tokico Illuminas kit including springs. I don't actually like a drop as low as Ludacris', although I think it looks sweet. Around here, the roads would beat me and my Max to death if I lowered it that much. IMO

The Illuminas should have dials at the top of each piston that are numbered 1-5. There is a small plastic screw in the center that turns the piston. You just use a straight screwdriver (the tokico kit came with one that fits on your key ring), and line the arrow up with the desired setting. The Fronts are super easy to get to. All you have to do is pop the hood and they're right there. The rears will end up being behind the trunk linker. It just takes an extra 15 sec to move the liner to adjust the rears.
Hope that helps Bruce. You'll love 'em, they're great!
