engine treatment...

engine treatment...

besides an engine smoking and blowing up.........whats a good way to tell if an engine was treated poorly???? will there be a sign in the fluids???? will there be signifigant wear on the engine parts???? and input will be appreciated.....

you wont be able to see any wear, unless of course you take apart the engine. You can get a hint of engine condition through the apperance of fliuds. Coolant Oil, Trannyfliud, are good indicators. if they are being consumed or getting exesivly dirty something may be wrong internally. You can also get a feel of how the engine was treated by looking at the car itself. If the rims are all full of curb rash you know it was moslty city driven, and whatever mileage is on there could be considerd city milage. remeber 1 city mile equals 3 hyw miles. also look at the body of the car, if its all full of dings and scratches, then the owner didnt take care of the car, so they probably didint do much to take care of the engine.

Just look for the little things and use some common sense.
