Air Conditioning

I have owned 2 Maximas and my parents had one. My 2 Maximas developed A/C problems at 4 - 5 years old and my parents' Maxima developed A/C breakdown at 2 -3 years old. (Nissan reimbursed them over $2,000 when they complained)

I have noticed a pattern now with Maximas and their A/C systems? Has anyone else experienced this A/C breakdown pattern with their Maxima?

I've owned two 4th gens, and neither had A/C problems (besides my s/c pulley wearing a hole in the line, my fault)

This is my 2nd Maxima. I had no problems with the A/C on my 3rd gen. I had a bad compressor that I had to replace last year on my 4th gen. The rest of my A/C problems were due to me over charging the system, when the original problem was the compressor.

No problems with my AC so far. 95 GXE. 173k

Then again, I'm in NJ so I only use it for half the year.

I'm sure in FL you have it on full blast most of the year.

The only problem I've had with the AC is a horrible vinegar-like smell coming from the vents. The smell has become strangely inviting as of late.
