how to separate b.joint without damage?

need to know how to separate ball joint without damaging the rubber boot everytime i have done this its torn im using the fork type tool any info?

Don't use the fork type. Get a real ball joint seperator. I have made the same mistake. Which ball joint are you trying to seperate...the control arm?
