Im 16 and most of the time on the broke side so performance mods have been non-existent thus far save for the 17" rims with the potenzas. Would you all recommend getting a CAI now or saving up some more and getting a y-pipe first? Any input is appreciated....or if you know of cheap performance mods that yield any kinda of gains lemme know.

If you want some free power there is not much to do. A few ideas come to mind though, you could remove you air filter and probably get a extra 4 HP,this is dangerous though because tiny dust particles can enter your engine and possibly damage it. Another safer idea is to hollow out your Catalitic converter, this is ellegal though because of emission{unless you live in some weird country or something}. To do so remove your cat and smack it with a hammer until all the junk comes out from inside of it. You would probably pic up 3-6 HP from doing this.

Y-Pipe VS CAI, you have to ask your self would I rather pay $250 and get about 7HP or pay $310ish and get a Y-Pipe which will give you 10-12 HP? I personaly would go for the Y-Pipe. Take avantage of the Warpspeed Group deal that is going on now and $AVE.

You're a dork.
If you want the govt to keep putting more and more emissions restrictions on new cars, then go ahead. It's not worth it to hollow out or remove that cat. It only gets you a couple of horses MAYBE and in the long run you make the rest of us pay because your car is one of the polluters that the govt is trying to fight by making new cars more restricted.

If any of you guys have removed or hollowed out your cat, I hold you personally responsible for the state of our air and the more and more restrictive emissions laws.

Ok, I'm done now...

I too would just go ahead and save the money up and get the y-pipe. You get better results than you would with the cai. If you do want to do a little something with your car and see a little change, spend about $40 and get a drop in K&N. I know that there has been debate as to whether it really does anything but I could see results from it, especially when i raced a stock max just like mine and won by more than a distance that would consider driver differences. Besides I'm not such a big fan of the cai because I've kinda grown out of liking the noise, but it is your car. These are only suggestions.

Good!

I am a dork? Ok, because a guy askes how he can get some extra HP for little or no money and I state the facts this makes me a Dork? Haha. BTW I never touched my main Catillitic Convertor nore would I.Heck my DAD is the head air pollution Chemist for R.I.,he's the guy who controls all the data for air pollusion,he also calls Ozone alerts ha. So I would say my family's doing a good job with pullution.

how much faster off the line does the Y-Pipe give you and how does it effect gas mileage?
