Looks great! It has a very clean, non ricey look to it. I bet there are other types of moldings that can give a nice flare for the sides, as long as you got them painted right away and didn't drive around with them looking cheap and all.

Great job! Way to think outside the box. And yes, it does look clean.

Do you have any pics of how the end of the strip meets the wheel well from the back? Does it look like it has mass or just a thin strip of rubber?

Also, is it stiff enough to not distort at 70mph? (perhaps some "L" brackets would help that.

My only criticism is that you never should have told everyone it cost $3 and was home fabbed. If you said it cost $100 and was made by Ludacris Performance Works everyone would love it.

Nice one.

For anyone still wondering, I believe what Luda used is called "cove base". Don't know what that means but it is basically trim for where the wall meets the floor.

fantastic, is great to see creative minds at work, thats just great, I might even do this, with a little fine cutting I bet it would come out pretty nice, I wonder how it would hold up against 100+mph though, I would be affraid it would fly off.

Creative - looks good in the pics...

That stuff is called Base Cove Molding - used typically in offices/commercial properties at the carpet/wall joint.... where we would typically use baseboard at home.

How hard was it to put the little blinker in the side fender?

thanks

If people look at it up close theyll know its a thin strip of rubber, i actually think its kinda cool when ppl realize it was home made. Thats what I thought when I saw it for the first time on this 240...altho his looks much worse bc he used staples to attach it. You can see how flexible it is bc his lip is getting bent in by a rock.

...kinda funny how the guy had money for Volks but no money for his lip

I dont know if it distorts...I was planning on having a friend drive my car on the freeway so I could see what happens at higher speeds.

People have told me that I shouldnt be giving these write-ups and info about how to do this stuff bc my car loses originality or something. But then again I'm not the first guy to do these things

So a trip to home depot, $3, some double-sided tape and some screws later I have a lip Got the idea from some drifter 240s and rx7s at my school and im not complaining. It wont ever break, I dont have to worry about scraping it and it looks damn good for $3. All of my friends couldnt believe how good it looked and how cheap it was..

call it all you want...im happy with it =)
Now everyone knows I don't like you luda, but I've always complimented you on your taste. I don't usually do this to people I don't like, but I gotta give it you - that lip looks so good that I almost wet my pants when I saw it....and no, I'm not being sarcastic (about liking it that is )

What type of material is it? ...and why only $3?

CLEAN! Ok, he said it (toofast240) & he said it (87MaxWagon). Like I said before, props to you on your money constricted creativity Luda. Good job, really, but CLEAN? Me and these guys definitly have different dictionarys. I do believe most of the org. has bent this term a bit. Now Lock it!

To those who wanted to buy correct material for this mod:
1. it's called WALL BASE, and it only comes as a roll 120' long but you can purchase as little as you wanted.
2. Available at most Home Depot, Lowe's or any other major carpet and flooring supplies.
3. It's relatively cheap (120' roll for $40 bucks)
4. Color: Only available in WHITE, BLACK and IVORY if by from retailer.
But we can order it in BLUE and GREY as commercial business.
5. It's very flexible and easy to work with...if you wanna paint it, then you must first prep the surface before apply primer. Paint alone WILL NOT stick very well on this type of material.

yes lock the thread bc people have different opinions from you. What does clean mean to you? Because to the great majority out there it means subtle and cohesive.

EXACTLY!!!!!

that makes 0 sense at all, just cause you have oppinions different from someone else it doesnt mean the thread deserves to be locked. i still believe this mod is very creative and much props go to luda for bringing something different for us.

p.s
where can i get double sided tape that is strong enough to hold this. i saw some double sided tape at the home depot and it didnt look strong enough. seemed like something id use to tape a piece of plastic to the cieling or something. what was the name of the tape you used and can you give some specifics on where you screwed this in.
TIA

Lighten up Luda! Just a little levity. As for my opinion of Clean. It's about flowing and meshing as if it were there all the time. No screws, staples, nails and foreign materials that are obvious to the eye. These body kit manufactures spend alot of money and time molding these lips and pieces on expensive equipment. It's not an overnight process to get a clean look in IMO. A little paint would help to clean your lip up too. Like I said thou, good job for the money and creativity. Clean thou? Naaaa

Use 3M automotive detailing tape. You can find it at your local auto parts store for $4 a roll. Ludacris, props on a very unique and creative mod.

W3rd a front lip that can bend! As an appliance installer I see that stuff all the time and never thought body kit. A friend of mine wanted to use the garden edging for a body kit so the idea isnt foreign, but Damn dude your lip looks pretty sweet. I dont think the garden lip would look good. We'll call it the "Ludalip".

oh well he's just trolling his way through

amazingblue...i think the screws holding it in make it ghetto, not obnoxious and "unclean" but whatever.

Ahh, the age old Honda HD lip... finally crossing over to the Maxima community. Guess it was only a matter of time, and I'm surprised it hasnt happened sooner

Nonetheless, I actually kinda like it. I haven't yet seen a 'real' 4th gen lip/front end kit that I like. They always inexplicably look more dated than 3rd gens.

the 3rd gen stillen lip is a better design...

The honda guys have good ideas I dont know why there is so much hate for them on the org. Granted there are horrible tacky ricers, but the clean Honda guys are the ones to talk to. I got my idea for my painted wheels with the polished lip and this front lip from honda-tech.com appearance forum..

I've been reading some of the post about Ludas custom lip & alot of people think it would look better painted. I'm not sure if it would be worth doing on a vehicle with black paint, because the material is black already. So I want to just let everyone who attempts this mod know that you will not have to primer the plastic material to paint it. What you need to do is use a product called (PLASTIC PROMOTOR) a company called Bulldog makes it in a arysol can just like spray paint. Also if you make sure to use plastic promotor it will make the paint flexible just like the plastic material, so you won't have to worry about it flaking or peeling. What it does is bite/etch into the plastic & create a excellent surface for the paint to stick to. If you cannot afford to have a body shop paint this piece for you, because we all know how exspensive a professional paint job is. Then I suggest using the Bulldog plastic promotor & buy a can of color matched spray paint. I'm sure that most of the orgers can find a can of spray paint that is very close or exactly the same color as there car. All you need to do it take the cap from the spray can & hold it flat against your car to see how well it will match. I suggest finding a shade that is slightly lighter in color because when it dries it will darken slightly. However for use orgers with white pearl we will never be able to find a spray paint to match, so we are kinda stuck with having it professionally painted. Mettalic's are not a big deal because there are many different shades of mettalic spray paint. The good thing about usuing spray paint is if you scratch it you can always touch it up & have it look semi-decent. So yes, painting would deffinitly make it blend better with the car, especially on Imstockbaby's red Max. It would look great because the car would look quite a bit lower in the front. I have painted many things with spray paint & if you take your time as with most things in life & prep the part well it turn out excellent. And the good thing about usuing spray paint it it doesn't build up as thick as normal car paint would, so if you ever need to touch up scratches or chip's it wont be to noticable.

Also, for those who think the screws look ghetto you could always use zip clip's to hold the lip on. They are those little clip's that hold your carpet kit in place in the trunk. I'm sure you can find tiny one's with a big enough head to keep the plastic material from popping off & I bet they would look alittle nicer then screws & washers.

Good job Ludacris & Imstockbaby looks nice!!!
