I am a little confused. I was reading the mod FAQ sticky and was wondering I was understanding. What I got from it was basically if you get an aftermarket y-pipe then there is no use in having any type of intake. I am trying to learn about this type of stuff and would like for someone to clear this one up for me. I also have another question. I was thinking about lowering my car and was wondering what the benefits are, and why does the back of the car sit up higher than the front?

no, you will see gains from both an intake and a y-pipe. but you will get a lot more from the y-pipe. in case you have any questoinis on modding this site will definately help you out if you don't know about it already...

I just got a Budget Y-pipe installed on Thursday. I don't want a CAI at this time, but recently bought a K&N panel air filter. The combination of the K&N filter and the y-pipe provides a noticeable boost in acceleration, without a loss of low-end torque. Particularly noticeable above say 4,500 rpm. No increase in sound at idle or cruising, just at WOT.

my Y pipe changed the exhaust note just a little bit.. after hearing it stock for 1yr, then going to the Y pipe, it got a little deeper/throatier.... most people that dont drive a maxima can't tell a difference...
