Those who have reverse indiglo gauges, did your transformer hum?

I just got my reverse indiglo gauges from procarparts last week. The transformer hums, high frequency when I have blue selected. I don't think it's normal.

The dimmer switch has a toggle with 2 settings: blue / green. It has a rotary dial for illumination intensity.

I first tested it directly to a spare battery in my basement, and that thing hummed pretty loud when I had it on blue. At green, there is no hum.

Called up procarparts, they said it''s because it's grounded so close to the battery (huh?????????), so they advised to tie it to the actual illumincation circuit in the cabin. Ahh, tried the cig lighter, close enough. Still humming in blue only.

Also a sidenote, anyone running 4-LED bulbs in their cluster? If so, how well do they illuminate the needles? I don't care about the hotspots since the reverse indiglo gauges will lay on top of them anyway.

you actually got regular indiglo gauges. reverse only has one setting. i have both and the reverse is much better.

it does hum loud in blue, but the only solution to fix this would be to get a ground loop.

killcrap, I got reverse indiglo gauges, I can't stand the indiglo backlight of the normal gauges. Kinda cheesy for my taste.

These are the ones:

The dimmer switch has a setting for blue and green (though the green isn't quite green, more like pale blue). The blue setting is truely blue, matches my window switches and everything else really well.

Can't stand the hum when it's on blue setting

What shall I do?

Sidenote, will 4-LED bulbs light the needles up better? I don't care about hot spots, since the reverse indiglo gauges will sit over the regular ones.

My reverse gauges hum and if it ever bugs me, I just up the volume a few notches.

NYC_Maxima97, what kind do you have?

Y2KSESteve, I'd do that except that I'm rather sensitive to high frequency electronic buzz. Most don't hear it or barely do, but in the case of the reverse indiglose for example, I can hear the hum from across the room
