Queston about differential bearing problem with 4th gen 5 speed maximas…
Have a quick question about it, was this an issue that could present itself in all 4th gen maxima’s or was it only 95-97’s that where prone to the problem? Leaving 98/99’s with no chance of developing the problem.
Well mine is a 97 and its getting worse by the day. I need to take it to a shop to have it done. But i have a friend that has a 98 and his has more miles than mine does and still no problem or sign of showing it. Has anyone else done this by them selves?
I suspect we'll see this all the way to 2001. It's just as matter of time, as newer maxima's age and rack up the miles, that we'll start seeing all the reports. Nissan hasn't so much as released a TSB. If they don't recognize it as a reliability issue, they probably haven't fixed the problem.
mine is a 1998 se and guess what its in the shop right now with the diff bearings shot. the whole tranny blew i was going down th road and the passanger side axle feel out cuz the bracket that holds it in broke then from there my trans was taken apart thought the bearings might be ok put it back together and it leaked at the seals put in new seals leaked worse so it went into the shop cuz i did what i could and the diff bearings are shot i might have my car 1500 buck later waiting on new clutch kit couldnt find an lsd(limited slip differential)
