Engine Hesitates,EGR Valve Problem?? Expert Required
My car hesitates intermittently at low loads. It only shows up at idle and when you are cruising on the highway. When you are cruising on the highway you can watch the engine speed drop 400rpm. I replaced the knock sensor since that code popped up a couple of time in a week (it hasn't returned). I have also replaced:
spark plugs
fuel filter
pcv valve
I can catch the hesitation with my Autotap and watch the ignition timing drop to zero and then rebound.
This then lead me to the EGR valve. My Haynes manual said to check it and see if the valves moved with similar pressure as a new one. So I order a new one and it feels pretty good. It also said to use a hand vacum pump and make sure it opens at a certain pressure and doesn't leak. I haven't gotten my hands on a vacum pump yet.
With my engine idling the vavle vibrates. Does anyone know if this is normal? You can check by sticking your finger up in the underside of the UFO looking thing (egr valve) under the throttle body. CAREFUL IT GETS REALLY HOT. I would suggest checking it when the engine is cool.
Does anyone have any other suggestions or ideas?

Have you checked your ecu for any codes?...If your problem is EGR related, you should get 0302 (egr hi/low flow) or 0305.

Do I need to check actual ECU and count the flashes?
