Weird electrical problem

Okay im driving my car around town yesterday. I first notice that car's clock would be dimmed (as if parking lights/headlights are on) and then sometimes it would be bright as it should be. It took me a while to realize that everytime I braked, the light would be bright and when I released the brakes, the light would go dim. I thought the problem lied with the clock, so i gave the center console a couple of knocks. After a while the clock seemed to work okay. As the sun goes down i turn on my headlights and notice that now my parking lights are being controled by my brake lights.
The headlights and all the bulbs themselves are fine i notice. However the headlights would be on and the parking lights would be off. when I step on the brake the parking lights would turn on. Its as if my parking lights somehow got tapped into my brake lights.
I check the engine bay but didnt notice anything wrong with the wiring.
any clues into what had happened?

Sounds like a short in your brake light circuit - check the bulbs and sockets in your rear brake lights...
