wheel spacer

Did anyone try to put a wheel spacer onto their max to get better cornering ability? Is there any draw backs for this installation because the site that sells wheel spacers has a note saying "we don't recommend this." Just want to know cause it seems like a good mod for the buck.

The biggest drawback, is if they crack or break, ur screwed! Also, they may require longer studs for proper lug-nut engagement, if you don't: Same result as above! IMO they are mostly for show, they have a history of failing under high stress situations. I wouldn't reccomend it.

BTW: All company's that sell wheel spacers have that disclaimer. It prevents you from suing them after you wrap your car around a tree if/when the spacers break.

There's usually better ways to get more cornering performance from Maxes. That said, I've been running H&R's for 2 years with no problems. Front is 225mm tire - 40mm offset rim - 20mm spacer. Rear is 205 tire - 35mm offset rim - no spacer. Net result is front track about 70mm wider than rear.
