Hey y'all. What do you guys think of ordering a heat shield off of eBay for like $20? It says that it blocks the engine heat from being sucked through the filter and more importantly will protect the Cone Filter from getting wet when driving through puddles (not on purpose of course ). Is it worth it? Does this heat shield really work? Will it really keep out the water? Thanks guys.

EDIT: Hmmm... now I'm getting second opinions that say Bomz DOESN'T sit within the fender and NO cutting is required. If that's the case, then I won't have to worry about water intrusion, only the heat factor.

 

WTF??, do you have the link to it, if so, I may have just payed about $35 for one.

I have a place racing style intake so my filter hangs down in front of my wheel so I got a fillter with a cover on it in case it rains since here in S.A. the past several years it can rain any day, any time. And when it does it floods quickly.

 

Well? What do you guys think? Is the heat shield worth it? Does it really work? Who here has one?

 

sounds like a waste of money. Your engine bay is going to get hot, a piece of plastic probably wont help
