1999 SE with possible bad ignition coil(s)...please help!!

I posted a message awhile ago about my 99 SE performing really lousy. Thank you to all who responded. But I have a few more questions. Based on the responses, it looks like I may have bad coils (very problematic on 99s).

However today, I also had my CEL flash real fast when I started the car. I haven't noticed this any other time. Also, when I'm on the highway I feel this jerk or hesitation everytime my tranny shifts back in forth from 3rd to 4th. I can almost rock the car back and forth like the transmission is coming loose or that I have bad motor mounts. I have read a few threads where people have said that these tranny issues can also be related to bad coils. Other claim it's a whole different problem all together.

My scenerio is that I hate this car now. As I mentioned in my previous posts, I used to own a 97 SE that was a dream to drive. This 99 SE has left a bad taste in my mouth and I'm considering just selling it and being done with it even though financially it doesn't make since. I'm tired of dumping money in to a car that just run the way I would like it to. Sory for venting. But I need your help one last time.

Regards,

I'm going to try to take it somewhere where they can see if the ECU is throwing any codes. But so many people were sure that it could be my coils. My fear is that I replace KS sensor, coils only to find out that my tranny is dying as well. I would rather put that money towards another car all together.

1. Use premium fuel
2. change fuel filter
3. change spark plugs.
4. possibly change knock sensor
5. Look up on the "how-tos" for how to test for bad coil...the ECU will not always throw a code.

Thanks for the response guys. I neglected to mention in my original post I had done 60K service 3K miles ago. So I've done spark plugs, tranny flush etc..

check in the how-tos and it will tell you how to test for a bad coil.
