maf sensor or ignition coils/plugs, check if the MAF is plugged in. Does it turn off too?

I have noticed the same lack of power at exactly 2500rpm - with Overdrive off the car just slowly gains speed in 3 gear (auto)

with Overdrive on - it downshifts to 3rd and it still seems like its lacking power - No Check engine light

all the maintenance is up to date....

Nick.

Also check a salvage yard. I recently bought one for my friends 89se for $50. I'm assuming a 4th gen isnt much more if any.

you can try rewiring it, I don't know about max but other nissans tend to get a bad ground and totaly mess up. Unplug it and plug it back in, if it doesn't work try to rewire the ground (I don't remember the color that nissan likes to use). If that doesn't help go to the junkyard.
