Nope, it uses drive by wire. There's a potentiometer by the accelerator pedal, and the TB has a stepper motor on it to open and close. However, there isn't a 1:1 proportion between the pedal and TB. The ECU controls the TB differently under varying conditions. And when you let off the throttle, the TB plate actually closes slowly to reduce emissions, it doesn't slam shut like cable operated TB's. And when you start getting close to redline, the ECU starts closing the throttle to reduce power and make you shift without hitting cutoff.

Do a little research, you are on a Maxima website it should'nt be that hard. 2002 and 2003 Maximas have the 3.5 liter engine. The 2000-2001 use the 3.0.
