Just picked up a 2k2 Maxima.

Well I just got a 2k2 Maxima today from a auction. It is not in the best condition ever, but I got it for cheap and plan to use the engine and a my bros 6 speed tranny for a future project. Tell me what you guys think of it. And can you guess what I paid for it?

Nice! Good luck with the project.

As to the price, my guess is ~ $3000

ok the price with the taxes that the auction takes the total came out to $1565. Without the taxes, it was $1350. that is the cheapest max my bro and i ever picked up. I got mine for $3500 and it is a 4th gen.

That's the price I wanted to post next, no more than 1500. I tried to think how insurance agents think, figuring that car is wasted andthere is really only like trany and some body and interior parts intact. But for a home mechanic there are still great deal of good parts.

Good find!

If you have a good hook up at a body shop, you are looking at between $5-7K in repairs and parts. Looks like a salvage title, which will knock off a couple more $K of the value.

If you have a body shop yourself, you will pay substantially less for repair obviously.

Looks pretty loaded, and it does have the 3.5

It is definitely more than $3000, what are thinking Vlad???

... I would pay about $5-7K for it (just by looking at the pictures, not knowing odometer reading and assuming there isn't much mechanical damage)

P.S. Vsamoylov, if you need some parts, e-mail me what you need before you purchase them, I might be able to find them cheaper.

You can easily pay off that 1500. Sell the audiosystem, seats, doors, windows, and maybe few rims from it and you should get 1500 just for these items.

I understand your surprise. I am 99,99% sure he's got it on dealer's auction. A friend of my uncle has his dealership and I was present when he was buying salvaged cars from live online dealer auction (physical place in Tampa, FL). I could not believe my eyes for how cheap those cars were going. One example: 93 Dodge Caracan hit in front got sold for $5 !!!. Some one will make good $500 at least just by selling parts of it, or fix it and still make good money. 97 Sentra - $1400 with clean title, probably confiscated as result of financial default.

Still, though. I was at a local auction, and we don't have prices like that. I've always heard, that florida is the place to buy cars at auctions, but ****, not for that cheap.
I am ****ed. Like I said I am moving.

A: I heard that TEXAS is the place to buy cars, not Florida.

B: i wounder how much 350z goes at places like that o.O

C: To my understanding, you guys were also talking about this engine being in working condition, but i just dont see how it can be working when the front got smacked so hard (but then again, its just my understanding..and i had head pains all day =/ )

3.3 stroker? no, i am cool with that. my bro and i are going to try to put the 2.5 with a 6 speed tranny into my 4th gen. that was the whole plan of buying this car. plus the engine is good. i mean the radiator support and radiator fans and radiators are one but that is how far the damage is. the engine and trany did not even get hit in the accident. so i will keep you guys updated on my project.

yeah, it is a sweet deal. i still cant figuere out why it sold for so cheap. everything is in good to excellent condtion. now comes the fun part of dropping my 2k engine out of my max and getting this 3.5 in there. and put a 6 speed tranny also and have one fast maxima. later if everything works out the way i want it too, i will start modding the 2k2 engine. but thats later cause i think 255 horses will be enough for a 4th gen.lol.

its comming along. the whole interior is gone already and the engine and tranny is ready to be dropped out also. but i will need to put money into the motor cause of the accident. i will need to get headers, y pipe, some wiring and 2 coils. that sucks for me cause i tought everything would be okay.

hey man good luck with the swap! about time someone tried one of these. as far as headers go just get the hotshots... i mean you might as well get the nice free-flowing aftermarket ones while you're at it especially if you're gonna build the motor in the future like you said
