Where are the jack points for my car? I know the back axle, and in the very front of the car in the center there is a spot... any other spots besides that? this pos unibody will crush in if I jack it up on the sides...

I would stick to the front and back. Only reliable spots imo. If you use a lift at a shop, you use the groove points on the 4 corners of the sides. Thats what is reccomended through the FSM.

 

The outer 2 are for the jacks and the inner 4 are for the jackstands or lift points for a shop lift. I think you might also be able to lift up your car from the 4 inner spots also (like when you use the factory jack to change a flat tire or something)

 

The 4 inner points are the safest spots for doing any single-wheel work on your Maxima.

You are best to invest $15 in a pair of jack stands.

is it really safe to put jack stands at those 4 points? IIRC its thin metal there. i bend parts of it on my old G20. i've been putting the stands at the two 3-4" "beam" things that stick out underneath by the two sides of the car.

 

the side rails are safe to jack up, i do this everyday at work and I havent had a maxima or anyother nissan fall on me yet

 

You place the lift jack on the flange itself buy lining up with the 2 indentations that are near the wheels, but the jack stands actually go slightly inboard of the flange and support the weight of the car from just inside of that "rail." There is a ledge there that it sounds like you are already using...it is 2-3" wide, IIRC.

 

I occasionally lift on the tow hooks in the rear of the car. They are attached to a unibody frame member and meant for pulling the car from the ditch and trailer hitch hook up points, so they are strong enough to jack from.
