KS(500kohm replacement working on it right now)help
KS(500kohm replacement working on it right now)update
need some help here
1 locating the ks wiring harness plug(its the one with 2 wires with clear and greay insulators?)
2 somebody mention the you just use 1 of the connectors wich one? the other end of resistors goes to ground so i guess the other wire in plug is the ground right?
3 for anybody that done this before did you cover the resistors with elec. tape or leave the exposed
4 any other advice i'm waiting for the engine to cool off

I did it on my friend 96 SE almost 3 years ago. If I remember correctly, then you have to use the closest pin (terminal) to the front of your vehicle. Back then I used two saparate resisters, 470k ohm and 100K ohm soldered together in serial, then they were wrapped around with electrical tape. One end of the resister connected to the link terminal, while other end attached to an extension wire, which was finally grounded to the intake plenum by the bold that was originally used to mount the KS. My friend never had any problems with his MAX until it was sold early this year along with the HIGH TECH sensor on it.
ok guys thanks i did it it only took me 20 mins to do it i used 22gauge wire and open end connector for grounding and flat type connector(cut by half to fit the the harness) 2 1Mohm resistors in parallel electrical tape and 2 christmas lights bulb holders(fit each end of resistors through the bulbs holders that way the resistors are encapsulated then taped)
i check code before installation and of course it gives me 0304(bad ks) i installed the poors man ks resistors and erased the codes then started the car again and 0505(no codes) drove the car for 10 mins then check codes 0505 again then took car for a 1/2 drive mostly to test it and check codes again after that 0505 so far so good
speaking of performance i just felt a slightly improvment on acceleration maybe my imagination who knows but feels a bit better than before i heard than even when replacing with real ks it you feel the improvement withing days i will update if anything change
btw this is a temporary remedy i always use 93 octane and most of my driving is during the night (work from 12am to 8:30 am) so is colder and less prone to detonation but as soosn as i fix my car (accident) i buy th real deal ks

today i drove for 70 miles or so and i can tell the car feels a lot better accelerating now my car don't hesitate that much when passing another car it just pulls smoothly next weekend is dyno day(people go to compete on the dyno by categories) where i live if i don't have to work i will go to make a run with and without the ks bypass to see difference

Im somewhat confused on where to stick the resistor..Do I remove KS and stick the resistor where the KS was.?

No you have to disconnect the sub harness is a 2 pin connector(but you use the one with 2 flat holes) theres where the resitor or resistors goes remember to clear codes after you finish (while the ecu is in the learning curve mode you gas may decrease a bit after a day or two it should be back to normal)

Thanks for the reply..I'll try it tomorrow
