Getting another max, Need some help

Well i totaled my 99se about a month ago and i just got my insurance check and im looking into a 97se. Need some advice from people with a little experience.

Did a carfax and it says it was registered as a fleet vehicle and sold at auction in Texas and now its in southern CA....Should i be worried about this??

Titles clean, its got 91k miles, its clean and its fully loaded, and he said its got about 6 months left on the warranty from where he got it. Guys asking 7900 but im sure i can get it for 7000,....good price?

I look at it Monday, hopefully its as nice as he said it is and i can get back in another MAX!

Let me know what you guys think. any opinions would be appreciated

yes, go with the 97...the best year haha.

you should have the car checked out by a mechanic before you buy it. seeing that there is a 6 month warranty, that is definetly a plus. 7900 is too high though. is it a 5 speed or auto? if its auto try to work em down even further maybe 6500!

good luck, let us know what happens!

if its an auto go running screaming away .... ahh just kidding if you like those crazy things, I'll never buy one. But yeah, get it checked out by a mechanic or two, well worth the $100.

I was under the impression that auto was more expensive in a car

That's what happens when people who have no idea about anything give opinions. $7900 is way too high, 7k is still high.

auto does add more value to a car but does anyone really want one? if i could have found a 5 speed black i would have bought it. but i could only find an automatic. i was just saying that he should only settle for an auto if the price is right!

that sounds like a pretty good dea.
I would actually recommend waiting it out to find a 5spd, but if that is what you want, go for it. Just make sure the tranny is tight. It should not really have any problems with under 100k miles on it.

Most of the vehicles you look up on carfax have fleet showing. I mean, that is not all that bad now because so many wholesalers and dealers working together. Probably over half the cars in America that are bought used come through an auction at one point or another. I realized this when I worked for a dealership last year. That does not mean that they are necessarily bad, but just being sold in bulk.

Just take it to a mechanic that you trust, and come to something agreeable. I mean, if you could get it below $7k, that would be good. If not, it is still a pretty good deal. I have more miles on my 99 than you do on your 97 you are looking at getting. I just rolled 95K on mine this past week.
