Boost sensor?

Here's the problem.
1.The interior dashboard check lights will stay on even after removing the key from the ignition. It happen right after I finish hosing my engine with a degreaser(I did cover the alternator).
So I let the car sit overnight with the battery disconnected and next morning(Sunday) the problem is gone.

2. I drove around town Sunday to different places with out any problems.
When I finally got home I park my car and called it a day. My brother comes and asks to borrow my car. Minutes later he comes and tells me my car died!
So I go and jump started but the car would die right away. So we push it home and I jump start the car again but after 10 minutes of letting stay on it eventually dies slowly. It also dies if I disconnect the negative terminal. Which points to an alternator problem.

3. As im looking in the engine I see that a connector was not plug where it was supposed to be.( I think I forgot to put it back on after trying to make sure there was no loose connections from the previous problem)The plug where it plugs to Reads "Boost Sensor" What exactly does the boost sensor do? And why was my car running all day with that disconnected? So I connected back thinking that was why the car was dying, but no still the car will not hold a charge. Also Could that plug have been the reason for damaging the alternator?Because all the symptoms point to alternator failure.

4. Was there a recall for alternators on 97 maxima se? If so who do I call to get more information.

Thank you all for your help.

Same thing happened to me when I installed my system. A couple of tips:

1. The 4th Gen Maxima ECU will kill the engine if the battery is unhooked, so you cant test it that way.

2. Turn all non-essential devices in the car off (heater, window defroster, headunit etc.~)

3. After you jump it, turn your heater on or anything that draws decent electrical current. If your cars RPM's lower greatly, then your alternator isnt re-supplying the power back to the battery efficiently. This could be a few different things~ either a diode is bad in the alternator, or its bad all together.

Go to your nearest Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts and ask them to run an alternator test for you. They will help you determine the problem. Hopefully its just a bad battery, because I know from experience a new alternator is near 300$ at Autozone before corecharger replacement, which is 100$ back in your pocket. Hope that helps!

Any one knows about recalls on the 97 maxima alternator?
How about that Boost sensor, what does it do?
