Dual Exhaust Guys, Which Muffler??

I will be going to a dual exhaust system on my '95 and have been going through my options. I have decided to run my budget y-pipe-cat converter-flowmaster 40 series muffler? which splits 2 pipes around my spare tire wheel well. The piping will be 2.5 inch mandrel bent all the way back with 3 inch chrome tips. Now my questions are as follows: I want a nice growl (somewhat loud) but nothing to obnoxiously loud. Which muffler should I look at getting? I was thinking a Flowmaster 40 series? Also did you guys use resonators? Any help is greatly appreciated.

i have the flowmaster with the resignator. The resignator was about $60 more. All it does is muffle out the sound a lot. She sounds great with or without it. Just make sure when you get it that you have a place for the O2 if your car has one. Some come with it and some dont.
When i got mine i didnt know about the O2. The resignator was longer, so all you have to do is drill a hole and weld that thing that the O2 scews into. The pipe will say more and less. Thats a guide for the sound level. I have mine on low because of the full exhaust system. She sounds great though. Its good to have the resignator cuase if its not loud enough for you, you can just flip the pipe and do the same thing with the O2 and your all set.

How's it sound? Real Loud? Does it have a nice growl/muscular sound to it?

Thanks,

I would definetely go with a resonator, they always help with deepening the sound. I have 3 on my duals.

keep the resonator....gives deeper sound, this is very true if you have the y-pipe.....

Im running a Flowmaster 80-series with a resonator. I highly recommend the resonator because the Flows have a tendency to sound raspy on lower displacement cars. I have a hint of rasp now that im running no cat, but it doesnt bother me. The rasp is only heard really when i rev it past 4K WOT and not usually during WOT acceleration.

same here. Without the resignator the thing is loud and if you have done the y then its louder. Getting the cattman headers next week so i think it would increase the sound level a bit more. Better to muffle out the sound as much you can. Cops love writing tickets here.

What do you guys think about this setup: Y pipe-cat converter-stock resonator?(maybe after market?)-Flowmaster 80 series-dual 2.5 inch pipes with 3 inch chrome tips. What do you think?

Thanks,

I have the Dynomax super turbo muffler. Sound is nice and deep with a rumble to it. I also have the stock resonator, and sound is pretty quite until I get on it,the its has a deep rumble. Also, just for the record, You have a 95 max which dosen't have the infamous black box that restricts a second muffler on the drivers side. So you could possibly have a 2 muffler setup.

3.5 inch tips instead. 3inchers are too small IMHO. Other than that, good choice

dual straight through mufflers (as some would call them....fart cannons) At first it was very loud and raspy, after a resonator it got a little better, but now after 3 resonators it sounds quiet. I forget I have the exhaust sometimes at idle, no droning or raspiness anymore either. Im very happy with it now.

Do yourself a favor, still with the 80series, its the easiest way.
