had bad luck with my transmission this weekend .. think it has to do with the throwout bearing failing. not sure till i get it off. i do know that third gear is gone and now it wont go into any gear. what i need is direction to obtain an I30 LSD tranny . a good part number will suffice but if you know where i can get one post up please. and is that all i need ? the tranny and the two axles right? TIA.

 

Check the I30 forum, yesterday I drove a 5spd 4th Gen and jumped in my car afterwards and you can tell the difference especially accelerating out of a turn. The Max was spinning the tires quite a bit and when I took the I30 out is was able to get it's footing around the turn.

What were you doing when this 3rd gear failure happened? If it's a clutch failure, then your tranny is fine. Throw out bearing = clutch component.

 

your tranny is prolly fine you are over reacting. the most that happened that you will need to replace your throw out bearing, clutch, and in some cases one of the hydrolic cylinders will go.

The reason why you can't get in gear because your clutch is done.


And I think for I30 tranny you will only need driver side axle from I30

 

third gear rattles. when i put it in third nothing happens besides rattling. right after it happened the other gears worked but third didnt. a matter of fact the tranny itself rattles when in neutral and we were pushing it.. i was acting like i was doing the 1/4 mile shifted to third and it felt like i missed a shift but then the rattling came.. i have been having clutch pressure problems. i was suppose to bleed the system but never got around to it.. last time i checked it doesnt go into any gear. i dont think the system was getting enough pressure to disengage the clutch. i think there was air in the line.
