ECU Code

Hi Everyone,

I have a wierd little problem. A few months ago, I replaced my alternator and shortly after I got my car back, the CEL came on. I did a test and pulled 0304, the knock sensor. Then I reseted the ECU and the light went away. After that first time getting the knock sensor code, I never got it again. All I get is 0505, which is nothing. But I proceeded to replace my knock sensor anyways this past weekend. I thought everything was kosher afterwards but 50 miles later, the light was back.
I just reseted the ECU today, but I am pretty sure I have about 50 miles before it turns back on. And it is still giving me 0505 as my code.
Has anyone ever had this problem? If so please share and give any recommendations.

Thanks!

THD

I know, but the CEL still comes on about 50 miles after I reset the ECU.

It's not a complete answer but 0304 knock sensor does not throw the CEL, neither does 0505 so it's somthing intermittant, tough to track down, good luck

KS will not trip the ECU. Did you try unplugging your battery overnight?

If it kicks on again go to AutoZone and get them to test it for free.

Thanks, it's good to know that the KS will not throw a CEL , so I know that it's probably not the KS. But then, are we saying that not all problems will throw a code? Or are you saying that maybe I might be diagnosing it wrong and I should take it to Autozone?
Either way, thanks for the input. Iif anyone else has any input, please share with us all.

Thanks again!
