help. putting up a max for sale. how much should i ask for?

my friend's selling a slightly damaged maxima that he got for real cheap. it was hit in the right fender and the air bags deployed. the body damage has been professionally fixed and the paint perfectly matched. it's a black 97 GLE with the works (black leather interior, automatic, bose...everything except a moonroof). it's got about 62K miles. it has air bag covers so there isn't any cosmetic faults at all. the carfax history shows that it's been in a minor accident and that the air bags have been deployed. it does have a clean title. what would be a good asking price for it?

4,500 - 6,000 is reasonable considering the low milage!

You need to provide more information:

1. Has the car had the 60,000 mile service?

2. Is there a work history available?

3. Are the tires original?

I would say 5 k considering that the airbags came out it would be much easyier to sell if it were a 5 spd

Thats not true at all and I'm getting a little tired of all you manual guys constantly pushing that. It would be easier to sell on the org if it were manual but I'm sure people would jump all over that car with the low miles. I suggest a starting price of $7000.

Try edmunds.com or kbb.com Also I think 4-6grand is a good estimate.

Airbags are expensive to have replaced unless you get them off ebay and replace them yourself. Usually cost about 1500 from dealers.

Good luck

Although i hate the auto, you have to understand something... A 5 speed is hard to find. I went to an auction looking for one and there were at least 600 or so Maximas. No 4th gen was in a 5-speed. Out of all of them, maybe half a dozen were 5-speed and they sold right away. Granted a family looking for a car would like an auto but i still think that because they are rare the 5-speed will sell faster and maybe for more money.

Is this some sort of sneaky way to sell this car in the 4th gen forum...

Anyway, I would say four to five grand for that ride.

Without airbags prob only worth @ 5-5.5g's, buy the bags used off ebay and install them and u can get 7 if not more for it. On another note a GLE without a sunroof thats rare!
