Installed Carbon Fiber hood, lemme know what you think!

Just installed my hood. Arrived yesterday. Cost $292 + shipping. Great quality hood and perfect fitment. Didn't have to adjust a thing. Took 4 days to arrive from CA to MA. Next I'm going to get the stillen kit on. Let me know what you guys think of my hood though.

I don't care for that look on the hood. However, if any color can get away with it, white is it.

I am digging the wheels. I like the Machined lip that you left on there.
Good job.

GTP makes it I believe but the box says C-West. It's the same lip that importfan.com sells.

nice looking hood! take some close-up shots so we can see the pattern and get a better idea of fitment.

Does it come with room for the washer fluid nozzles and hood release assembly? What's the weight savings over stock?

Thanks. I think white for the mean color contrast and green, blue and black can pull off cf hoods.

It has precut washer nozzle holes, has the oem latch, and here's a picture of the pattern:

http://img58.photobucket.com/albums/...ei/pattern.jpg

I'm not possitive on weight savings, but this hood is extremely light, I can pick it up with 1 finger. The latch is attached to fiberglass, so I think I will have to put hood pins in at some point. The latch doesn't seem too safe. But I heard that none of the oem latches on CF hoods are strong. And that you should ALWAYS put hood pins on it.

They raised their prices right after I bought one, I think they may have priced it wrong hehe. Because the auction said like buy it now for more but the buy it now was set at $292. But here's a link to one of their auctions right now.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33646

You can try giving them a call, the guy I spoke with was very nice.

Here's the one that I won,

BEWARE!~~~~ when closing the hood, if you push the front middle to close the hood, the bottom of the cf hood might crack. mine cracked like on the first day. why did they make that part of the cf soo weak? the thing is, that is like the only place where i could push it down to close the hood.

Thanks for the heads up, how do you close the hood then? I hate slamming it down into the latch.

is there any other way to secure the hood other than using hood pins? any way to like secure it under the hood or something? i really don't want hood pins, i don't like the way they look. and my radiator support is twisted, so they wouldn't be even. does anyone know of any other way to secure it? thanks

I like it a lot, goes very nice with the rims. If you do not already have tints (windows are down in the pic) than you should get them.

I know you don't like pins but I think it will look better with them, plus paint those caps.

Each side is even, the gap is a little bigger than stock but not by much. Looks great.

Maximus_95, can you get back to me on how you close the hood?

And nobody has any other way to secure the hood without pins?

I don't think there would be any other way to secure the hood other than hood pins. Unless you tie it with rope through the grille to add support. OR buy a new radiator support, get hood pins, and paint them black.

Personally i hate the way the hood pins look on my car but they actually serve a purpose.

I was actually thinking of the rope way, but have like a buckle in the middle that I could just connect together when I shut my hood.

Your hood pins painted black would look much better...

I was thinking about that but after a period of using the hood pins the paint would chip or scrap off. I don't think it would be a big problem but i'm just lazy as fu<k to do it.

here are some pics of my CF hood with powdercoated hood pins...
ur hood looks very nice ... i recommend when closing the hood put both hands on hood around shoulder width apart and push down with one sharp force (just enought to close the hood, and remember to release the hood pins before popping the hood latch.

I heard it's really hard to get a refund on the hoods, and sometimes it costs more to send it back and get a new one than to just order a new one. I know ceasar's chariot had problems with his and it would of cost him more to get a new one.

man that looks sexy. I especially love to see a cf hood, on white max, and white cars in general something about that look is amazing.

If I get another max and she's white, thats the first things I'm doing to her, a CF hood.

congrats on the hood. I want to know about closing it too, just for general knowledge

not to get off topic, but purpose do hood pins serve? I'm not too clear on it, I'm seen cables run from the hood pins to in the engine bay, but I'm still not clear on its purspose?

anyone know?

Our cf hoods are really light compared to the OEM hoods. All the hood pins do is keep the hood from flying into the windshield at high mph. Support...

if thats what the hood pins are for, then the 4 bolts holding the hood down arent strong enought? or is it that the hood is soo light and/or flexible that at high speeds it would bend back?
