i won't be installing mine till saturday as i need to get more hose and ATF. I've read thru the how-to on the install several times and pretty sure its a simple enough job. i was just wondering if anybody have any other tips that are not covered in the how-to. i got the 404 model from ebay for about $40 shipped. my local kragen wants $60 for it... the thing is smaller than i had imagine.
very basic install; just follow the writeup if you have any difficulties, took me maybe 1 and a half hours- definately worth the 40 bucks knowing you are saving your tranny from those high temps. i mounted mine as high up as i could for some good airflow. good luck!
Definitely an easy job!!! Took me about 45mins... Just make sure you get the right size hoses and all that is stated in the tutorial. The quicker shifts are definitely worth the dough...
I think I'm gonna upgrade to the B&M here soon, because that is the one with the bypass so the A/T fluid doesn't get too overcooled.
Good luck

I picked my 404 up on eBay for about $30 shipped and I'm going to install it tomorrow or Friday. Need to get a good tranny fluid hose since PepBoys wanted me to use a fuel line hose... Going to stop at NAPA tomorrow for the tranny cooler hose and the heater hose. The install seems simple enough (plus I already removed the splash guards from under my front bumper since they were dragging anyways)
well ****, one side of my splash guards is dragging too. i thought it was just me. so at napa, i should ask for "Transmission cooler hose" and they would know what to get me? i'll stop by there saturday. thanks.
ENGLISH MUTHAFOCKA, DO YOU SPEAK IT?
on a related note, the box says OC-1404 TRANSAVER Transmission oil cooler. i assume they work the same, its just a small radiator from the looks of it.

Haha typo - I got the 403 since I didn't want it to overcool the car and I don't have the VB mod yet. I'm planning on getting the B&M cooler when I get the VB mod so I don't have to worry about the fluid getting overcooled during the winter.
If you look at the sheet that came with the cooler, it says to buy 11/32" tranny cooler hose and not to use fuel line. I think NAPA has them since they have different hose selection online:
Fuel line hose (50 PSI): http://www.napaonline.com/cgi-bin/nc...&usrcommgrpid=
Oil cooler hose (400 PSI): http://www.napaonline.com/cgi-bin/nc...&usrcommgrpid=
Notice the difference in PSI
I don't see 11/32" (0.34375) online, but I'll see if they have it in stores, if not then I'll buy the 5/16" (0.3125 or 10/32")

i flushed my transmission with mobile1 synthetic ATF last weekend. i was under the impression that synthetic ATF will offset the problems with the cooler during winter. furthermore winter in northern CA is no where as bad as other parts of the country.
