What is the deal with JWT cams?

I know that they cost about a grand and the install costs around another grand and the gains where said to not be great. So only a few maxima owners have them, Iron lung comes to mind. A few weeks ago I recently started reading these forums regularly again and have not heard much mentioned about cams. Did Iron lung ever dyno his car before/after? And what where his impressions regarding the mod (I never see him post anymore)? If anyone has any links to threads about cams that would be cool, I was also looking for Iron lungs car domain page, but could not fine it. Thanks.

He told me the cams really help out when it comes to the top end but only then.

ironlung's car is mad fast

the cams do help at the top end but for $2k (if you pay for the install that is) i don't really think they're worth it... just think, for that price you're halfway to FI!

For an idea on how fast his car is, he beat a stock SRT-4 without a JWT ECU.

*EDIT* He dyno'd after installing the cams and posted a spreadsheet version of the dyno. He made the same amount of torque at 3500 that he made at redline. That's what i call sick top-end. He made around 215WHP@6500 so if he could find a way to raise the rev-limiter his peak HP might go as high as 225 seeing that the HP peak was at redline. Whether or not you think it's worth it, a JWT cammed car will be MUCH faster than a non-cammed car mod for mod.

Is that time slip on his site from a run with the headers and cams? Or is it a run without them but the 100 shot of nitrous? Is he still around on the org, I wish I he had more info on his Cardomain site? I would think that if Neal can hit a 13.4 with the same mods as Iron lung, minus the headers and cams (and underdrive pulley), that he should be very close to high 12’s (with slicks of course), and close to low 12’s with the 100 shot. So it seems like the cams make the biggest power gains on the high end huh? That means you need a MEVI and JWT ECU with an extended redline to take full advantage of them. No doubt that for the price you are better off going supercharged, but I would still love to see an N/A maxima break 12’s, and there is just something cool IMO about running fast times and being N/A. I think that Neal's car has the potential to hit high 12’s with headers, cams and a lot of weight reduction. But I do not blame him for going the turbo route, it makes much more sense and will give him much better gains for his money.

It's still a Neon. We drive Maximas, the top end of Nissans. I don't care how fast a Neon is, it's still a freakin' Neon. I'd rather drive a 1st or 2nd gen Maxima than a Neon.
