.043-.044, or 11mm. if your doing it yourself and don't mind it, get coppers (last half as long but cost 1/5 as much). If you hate changing plugs or are having it done get plats (last 60K but cost more). Either way ONLY GET NGK.

Nothing but the stock NGK plat. or copper for your maxima any other would be crap. I can sell you a set of 6 Plat. for $80 buck shipped to your door I bought a set for mine a little to soon. If I don't sell them I will install them in the winter.

aphillips4u, are you trying to rip the guy off? You can get these at the dealer for for $11ea ($66 total), and probably cheaper if you looked around.

My local dealer (Universal City Nissan) wants $24 each. Rip-off! What dealer sells for $11?

JR nissan says list is $11, if you use "maxima" promo code you can actually get them for $60 shipped (here's the site http://www.nissandealer.com/jerry-rome/part_catalog.cgi). Copper's are alot cheaper though, so you may want to consider them. Other autoparts store's should have both as well.

You don't have to gap the NGK platinums at all. I believe the NGK coppers should be gapped to 0.039 - 0.044.

Use nothing but NGK plugs as has been stated above.

Don't waste your money on the platinums.
They cost 3 times as much as the coppers. The coppers should probably be replaced every 30K miles, and the plats, every 60k miles. Anyway, the stock number for the coppers is BKR5E-11. Ask for those, and don't forget to get 6 of them. They should be under $2 each.

Also, the gap for those should be (by spec) .039-.044. They should be all right out of the box(all of mine have been), but you need to check just in case. YOu can get a tool to check them for less than $1 at the counter of any car store.

Hope this helps.

Stick with NGK's they're cheap and work the best, if your handy and have no probs changing the plugs yourself go with the coppers, coppers you should gap, plats are pre set.

I used Bosch Plat +4's expensive and my Max started running bad after only 6 months! I used these in my 300ZX TT and they worked great, but not the MAX, stick with the NGK's and you'll be happy. Gapping should be .044", but if you don't believe me, nothing like getting it straight from the horses mouth:

So that's what I gapped my NGK coppers at last week, perfect. You should always check gapping as the same plug will fit many different cars that all require different gapping, especially coppers!

what if I have all the bolt-ons except cams and headers and flywheel? with mevi, ecu, udp, intake, y pipe, cat, b pipe, muffler should all be fine with a 0.044" gap? or should I gap it differently now that I have all these mods....?? why are the bosch bad? i have the platinum 4+ and haven't had a problem with 'em? do switching from these to NGK coppers really produce a noticeable difference? or are you guys changing them out when it was really necessary after a ton of miles, in which case, of course your gonna notice a difference if you switch to any brand new plug....?!?!? what makes the NGK different, the design looks exactly the same...any stories of how the bosch platinum 4+ were bad?

I thought that was a discount price I was looking around on the internet, ebay, pepboys and local dealers about a month or so and the prices i was quote was $19-22 and have to pay shipping if they are not in stock so yeah you give him the # to your dealer that is selling them for $11ea.

I guess i got ripped off because i did not want to pay shipping cost and my local nissan dealer counter guy was pretty nice and sold them to me @ Mechanic price which was $16ea. ($96 Total) and those are the plat. plugs

I went to get them installed and my mechanic told me the one's i got in now are still good change them out for the winter.

They are always close, as the many cars the same plug goes into will require a minimun range difference, but they are never exact. I just installed NGK BKR5ES-11 coppers and they were pre-gapped at .038 so I regapped them to .044 which NGK specs for our 3.0 V6 VQ30DE EFI DOHC

Stock gap is .039-.044". They come pregapped but ALWAYS check them before you put them on. Get the coppers, be a smart man and get the copper NGKs.

Probably. You'd have to be really stupid to do it though. Take the 5 seconds it takes to do it, don't be lazy and syffer the consequences later.

so I just finished my spark plug change,

I gapped them with a ROUND gap tool from advance auto. so I rotated them until the MIDDLE of the curved end of the plug was at .044. So the LEADING edge was at .045 approx and the trailing edge was at .043 approx.

So am I over/under/perfect gapped?

thanks.

I'd say over. I used the same tool, and would say to get the correct gap you should line up the edge with correct gap. If you think about it the overall gap is going to be equal throughout the whole thing so you've got a .045 gap.
