Question about gauge faces
Question about gauge faces
I am about install a set of glo-gauge faces this evening. I noticed currently there are two nodules on the tach & speedo that the gauge needles rest on when the car is off. But the new faces don't have holes for these. Can I break these nodules off. Do I need to put holes in the new faces? If I do break these off, will the needles fall and point down?
Just got my max a few months ago and I'm trying to dress it up a little. Any assistance would be welcome.

maybe you should sell those and buy these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=43952 since they have the holes. I would just drill the holes anyways though
They have the holes, but not the ones where the screws holding the entire thing down were, for instance in the speedo the screws on either side of the odometer cutout, there are no holes for them, meaning that whole bracket is somewhat loose. And with that the faces are elavated, causing the needles not to move, trust me, i just spent a few hours cursing at them to work.
Unsure whether or not to drill holes because that might screw up the indiglos...

Buy the indiglos with the needle rests holes already pre-drilled. It doesn't really matter if there aren't any holes for the gauge mounting screws. These screws just hold the actual face on. It makes the face move once the screws are removed, though. What I did, when I had indiglos in my '95, I had to remove the gauge mounting screws. But, once they were removed, I had taped them down along the outside diameter to keep them from moving, and then I had mounted the indiglos on top of them. Never had a problem with them after two years of having them installed before I got rid of the car.
