how much quicker with y-pipe?

last weekend i raced my friend in his 99 reg cab short bed silverado with a 5.3 and exhaust, i was right on his *** untill he hit his governor, my front bumper was by his back bumper, i was wonderin after i get a y-pipe how much closer it will be or if i will beat him, i have no idea how much faster ill be with a y-pipe.

btw the reason i ask is cuz were gonna put 50 bucks on the next race and i wanna make sure ill win. (he thinks his truck is so bad ***)

yea you'll have a much better chance after the Y pipe... but wait 2-3 days after you get the pipe.. it took a couple of days for my car to get the full benefit of the Y pipe...

Yea you'll definately feel the Y pipe's difference. More than worth it. haha how does it feel to get danced around by a truck that weighs twice as much as you?

I raced that Ford V-10, it had intake and flows. Was a kill, those things arnt as strong as people say.

Only mods are RS-type muffler, straight pipe, hacked box, shift kit, 17'' ICW tuners.

You should just stop posting all together cause all you say BS. So what if it has 4 more CYLINDERS, spell right crackhead, those things are made for low end TQ and run out of power pretty fast. Need I mention they weigh 2x as much as the max?

ECUs don't reprogram. I wish people would stop with that crap. It adjusts almost instantly.

I guess you dont watch Trucks! much on Spike Tv. Today they had a brand new Duramax Diesel Chevy Pickup.. they installed a system that by passes the stock ECU and lets you tune the truck on different parameters. It also has a controller where you can set the parameters real time as you drive and tells you 0 to 60 and 1/4 mile times. The truck on the show went from 17.9 seconds to 15.3 seconds 1/4 mile with just that tuning.

Have a cookie...

Those trucks like Big D said are built for low end. You can punch it hard and it'll get off the line quick but it runs out of breath very quickly. I can race a brand new H1 Hummer which has double my HP and TQ and weighs about god knows how many times my max... but then again it takes about 18 seconds to reach 60MPH ... which is its top speed more or less

he may weigh twice as much as me but he's also got almost twice as much horsepower so it should be a good race like it was. and the fact that he thought he would kill me and i hung with him was funny, my other friend has a 99' silverado extended cab with a 5.3 and he thought he was going to smoke me and i beat him by a car length, its funny racin ppl like that

His gearing is made for low end torque, after that he's a slow POS. I watch TRUCKS everyweek, there's like 10+ episodes a week, so I know what thy can do.

If the gearing isnt there then what can you do.... they're made for low end grunt.

Its like a MEVI equipped Maxima vs a USDM Maxima. 0 to 60 the MEVI Max will be slower... in the 1/4 it will be faster...

Are you kidding? The ypipe gives 3 or 4 times the gain of a cat-back. Something wrong with your butt-dyno.

Thanks, coming from a nimrod like you it means a lot to me. Who the hell are you to call me an *******? Just cause I don't agree with you or the fact you're never right doesn't mean I'm an *******. Why even bother posting when you're not helping in the thread. I told him that a Y gives better gains than a catback and you start PMSing. Get off my back and drive into a wall.

Get a y-pipe and an intake (you can just hack your stock airbox if you want) and reduce the car's weight (empty the trunk, take out the spare, etc. - no need to go all out by taking out your seats and doors )

If you were right about your front bumper being by his rear, then the intake and y-pipe should give your the little extra power to get in front or atleast stay next to him.
