**Question to all fidanza flywheel owners**
**Question to all fidanza flywheel owners**
Yesterday I finally installed my fidanza flywheel along with an ACT stage I clutch. I haven't been able to open it up and see the difference in acceleration because I want to break in everything. One thing I noticed and expected from all the posts is leaving out of first. It needs a little more RPM, and I notice what I first thought was grinding that went away once engaged. You can feel slight pulsation in the clutch pedal and accelerator, but then I remembered everyone writing about chatter. Is that what this is? I have never experienced clutch chatter before so I want to make sure that's all this is. It's not anything horrible, I just want to make sure it's normal...small price to pay. Please, any feedback is greatly appreciated!
I didn't see any noticable RPM drop like many people, or bogging when changing gears...everything out of first and on felt the same. I have yet to do any type of lauch or take it beyond 4000-4500 RPM and won't for about 700 miles for the clutch break in.
The other thing that was interesting is the old OEM flywheel had a spacer that fit in the center of the flywheel and that's what the 8 bolts bolted to. On the fidanza we weren't sure if that spacer went back on or not, but after checking to see that the clutch disk wasn't flush with the spacer there, we bolted it up without it. Just something that the instructions never mentioned.
Now I only have to put my y-pipe on next week and get the break-in on the clutch done

I found out that this is more the clutch than the flywheel, and it makes more sense I guess. I'm told the ACT clutch is very known for this, and I now remembering seeing that on here before. Does it go away, or will it always have the chatter?
I am also interested in this because I did the exact same thing with the exact same set up....I did not put the spacer in either....it did not look like it fit. The fidanza did not have a groove cut out for it like the oem....I hope I did this right. Also I will get shuttering when I go into gear as well
i hear flywheels dont really work on fourth gens.
the 3rd gens flywheel is a two piece i think and the fidanza lightens it up a bit.
the 4th gens flywheel, isn't it about the same weight as the fidanza?

The part that I am talking about is a metal circle with holes in it that mounts to the center of the stock flywheel, and there is a cut out for it on the stock flywheel. I did not put mine back in with the Fidanza because it did not look like it went in. I just want to make sure I did not leave out a part that should be on the flywheel. Thanks.

Carson, I was wondering about that too, but I installed the flywheel with my cousin who has been a tech at Fergus Nissan in Skokie, IL, and he has been there for 7 years. He definetely tore into the whole operation pretty quickly! We both looked at it and he saw that there is no way the spacer can go back on because it didn't sit flush with the disk on. I have driven 100 miles since and nothing wrong. The chatter I was first experiencing is also going away as the clutch is breaking in. We cleaned all surfaces and greased everything thoroughly, I guess the chatter is normal on ACT at first. My cousin is telling me to break-in for at least 700 miles to make sure everything sets properly, if you start revving it and driving it hard, you may have continuous chatter and further clutch problems. So it seems the break-in is extremely important, I am not going over 4000-4500 RPM in first, and up to 4000 RPM in 2nd gear.
I think the fidanza was much lighter than the stock OEM after holding each in one hand. Leaving out of first is much easier now that the chatter has started to go away, it's almost the same as before needing only a little more RPM. I don't notice any RPM fall off difference, but I guess others have. This is just my take on it, but I haven't had a chance to push it to redline to see it there...can't wait until I can!
The stock 4th gen and I believe (could be wrong) 00/01 flywheel is about 20#s while fidanza is about 10#s and Unorthodox racing is 5#s. I have heard that the fidanza is better for drivability b/c I know frosty has the UO and it falls FAST.
