Maxima Apprentice Questions...

I'm new to this Maxima Enthusiast but I have some money saved up just to buy a Nissan Maxims SE or GLE. I wanted to know the basics of purchasing one of these Icons. The average price for a used 1999 Maxima. The pro's and Con's of the SE...and which one I should purchase. I know that one is luxery and another is sporty but is there anything else. I am big on acceleration...I am dying for a fast pick up. Any ideas or suggestions....should I go with a 1999 model. Please help me out all you Maxima Gurus. I know it's a lot of general questions but please help out. Thanks.

a 4th gen is the way to go, IMO. I think they are the best looking maxima. Personally, I would go with a SE 5sp.(SE, if you want an auto too) Look for a low mileage 97 and use the extra money for mods.

What kind of engine modifications would you recommend? Or any exterior mods as well. I know that is all comes down to preference but I guess just to get some ideas. I'm really interested though in the engine mods. Thanks

Se model has a sportier sus and it's about 1in lower. Stay away from modded Max's if its modded you know they ragged on it...

i believe they are all the same height. as for engine mods, do the basics....intake and y-pipe first.

Definitely get a 5-spd if you're big on going fast, they're quite a bit faster. Read the faq for easy mods and differences between models.

There will be a meet on july 17th at the Floyd Bennet Field in BK. you should come and check out all the maximas, and what they have, so you could talk to people and figure out what you want. you can find more info in the Northeast section of the Regional forums.

get a 4th gen 5spd...some people that i have talked to on the org regret getting autos. But to each his own. Just make sure that when you are looking for cars, don't rush into anything. As for mods, go for the cheap ones first (clears, ypipe, intake, etc.), then go for the expensive.
