confused about WHEEL GAPS from 16's and 18's
i just posted a thread in the WHEELS And TIRes and this guy told me that the wheel gap will be about the same if i changed my stock 215/55/16 to 235/40/18......is he correct?
u can take a look at the thread in the WHEELS and TIRES catagory named (how...)

I don't know about those specific measurements, but if the tire is chosen correctly the overall diameter (and therefore wheelgap) should be the same, however it will LOOK like a larger wheelgap. I read this in an article on tirerack.com I think. So to summerize, the wheelgap will be the same, but it will look bigger (an optical illusion).

i was just looking and came to the conclusion that on your setup, after getting the 18" and desired tires, you will REDUCE the wheel gap by 0.09 inch which is not even 1/10 of an inch. basically it will be the same. the reason that it will look like a 4x4 is because of illusion.
now i did a calculation on the setup that i want and came to a conclusion that i will be reducing wheel gap by 0.44 inches after purchasing 19" with 245/35/19 tires.
also if i purchase tein S techs (2.2" upfront drop) then my over all wheel gap is going to be:
3.75" (stock wheel gap for SE) - 2.2" ( s techs) - (0.44) new diameter. which comes out to 1.1 inch.
1.1 inch is about 1.5 fingers. that means that tein S techs are perfect for me !!
S techs, here i come !!!
play around with that link and ull get it !!
