anyone using lowering springs with stock STRUTS/SHOCKS?

i plan on lowering my car but i dont have enough $ to buy struts and so im wondering if it will be ok to just replace the springs....ive been told some people have no problem with their car running on just aftermarket springs...w/o having to replace their struts too

that's what i did at first. then after 3 months, the struts blew and i ended up getting aftermarket struts and taking apart the suspension again. waste of time. i say do it right the first time.

3" drop in the front 2" drop in the rear on stock SE strut's. I've been dropped for alittle over 1yr. and still have not blown my strut's. I have hit many potholes, dip's etc @ high rates of speed and never bottomed out. The strut's will eventually give out over time but I say you can get away with it long enough to save up for some new Illumina's.
