Tinting Quote: $250?!?!

WTF!! That was for all windows except windshield. AND, if I wanted the top 4" visor portion of the windshield tinted, it would be an extra $25!! BTW, lifetime warranty is a given and this is for ANY shade of tint. Is this price kinda steep? Thanks.

I got mine done for $160 with a lifetime warranty, but ususally it runs from $175-$275 so its not the best bargain but I think you could find it cheaper. As the $25 for the 4" on the windshield, I was quoted the same...I didnt get it, because I went outside and looked at it, from the inside that portion is blue, but from the outside it appears black, so there is no need in getting it done.

That's about what I paid. The base price was much cheaper, but I upgraded to metallic, and had the windshield strip and moonroof done. Each of those extras cost $30 a pop. Well worth every single penny, too, especially with black leather.

It's all relative. If they do Grade A work, $250 is worth every penny. If they leave bubbles and lines, it's not worth $100 to me. Almost all tints come with lifetime warranties (including the $100 places). I went the cheaper route, payed $180 for illegally dark tint on all windows (minus windshield). Got bubbles and lines? I do. Now I wish I had taken to a better place (not neccessarily more expensive).

I say $250 is not bad. I got mine done for $200 with a lifetime warranty. People are all happy when they are quoted $100 or $150, but many of them do not realize that both quality of the tint and the tint-job often determine the price.

Here's the way I look at it: Places that do a lot of tint jobs a day are definitely going to be more expensive because of the popularity. But you can bet that with a lifetime warranty a place like that does quality tint-jobs.

I've seen cheap tint-jobs that were of horrible quality and used poor quality tint. You can tell right away. My friend got a cheap tint-job done to his Max and we both saw little, minature air bubbles in the bottom left of passanger window and the bottom right of the rear passanger window. Sooner or later he will have to have these windows replaced, especially after winter. He does have a lifetime warranty, but I'd rather spend the $100 extra and not worry about wasting time and getting it retinted every year or so. Just my $.02

My brother and I know a manager at a tint shop - he's done it on our previous cars (Talon, two 300ZX's, MR2, ES300) on the side for $100, including warranty. But he's always done quality work and we haven't needed repair.
