Suspension Components to replace at 100K+ miles
Suspension Components to replace at 100K+ miles
What are the most common and or most critical suspension components to replace to maintain a solid feel throughout the car as well keeping away from creaks, and groans.
So far I've replaced
Both CV Boots
Sway Bar Endlinks
I want to change the bushings on the control arms, as well as other components but my steering sometimes feels sloppy. I don't know I want it to be solid. Any input is appreciated.

FSB endlink bushings
FSB midbar bushings
Control arm bushings
Front strut bearings
Front strut mounts
Rear strut mounts
Front strut isolators
Rear strut isolators
That's all I can think of right now!

Where can I purchase these parts for a relatively good price online, and what should I expect to pay for labor (coming from a guy with not to many tools, nor jacks). Regardless, I'm dropping her soon thinking either Teins, or Eibachs, with Tokico Illuminas.
Ok let's take this a step at a time.
You should be able to get replacement parts from www.JerryRomeNissan.com or www.CourtesyParts.com . They may not have all the parts online, but I'm 100% sure if you call them they will get you everything.
For the FSB parts, you may want to upgrade to polyurethane bushings. Energy Suspension makes these, and you can buy them from Courtesy or www.Suspension.com .
As said before, get OEM strut mounts for the front a rear, low mileage used ones or new ones. A company called Motivational used to make really nice rear mounts, but they were pricey ($125) and are no longer made I believe.
The bearings and isolators are best bought new (I believe the bearings come to $60 shipped from Courtesy and the isolators are very cheap i.e. >$5).
Installation prices vary so greatly I cannot accurately quote you a price. A buddy of mine owns a shop and will do it all for me for $50, however the going rate for all that labor is about $300. However, if you take it to a big-name nationwide garage (like Merchant's or Firestone) it could cost as much as $700 just in labor! The worst, my local dealer, would charge me about $1200 in labor.
So the best thing to do is call around and ask: How much would it be to install all new shocks/struts, accompanying components, control arm bushings, and front sway bar bushings.
Good luck and I hope they cut you a fair deal for all the work.
I do urge you to get all these parts, I didn't at first and had to pay double labor. They're especially crucial on a car of your mileage, but with all of it done you willl really feel the difference!
