Disassembling 97-99 Foglight Lenses & Housings
I just bought a used right foglight from eBay to replace my current one (glass is broken). It's a little dirty and one of the brackets on the gray plastic housing is broken, so I'd like to take my current housing and mate it with the new glass lens, after cleaning it.
My question: will the oven trick (~10 mins at 200°) work on the glass foglights as it does for the plastic tails? The sealant around the perimeter of the lens is the gray stuff, not the black stuff. If it heat it up, can I just pull it apart? Is reassembly straightforward or will I need more of the sealant? Thanks in advance.
Also, if anyone can throw me a link or describe the process whereby you upgrade the wires leading to the fogs, that'd be great—I'm putting in Narva Rally Golds which get really hot (85W).
