Mass Air Flow Sensor

Today my CEL went off for my Mass airflow sensor.

I remember reading on the org that if you clean your K&N filter, and use too much oil, it will mess up your MAFS. Am I correct?

If I remember right, the problem can be fixed by simply cleaning it. I would like to try this before buying my self a new one.

I bought my self some electrical cleaner from work ( Pep Boys ) and i was wondering how would i go about this. Or just spray it down and let it dry, or spray it down and wipe clean with a rag?

Thanks in advance
