Ordered Y pipe! Should i wrap it?

I took the plunge and finally ordered myself a budget Y pipe... I've wanted one ever since i found out about them. A lot of you recommend wrapping them with exhaust wrap to get rid of a sound. Where can I buy exhaust wrap? Thanks a lot.

No idea about budget, but I know warpspeed shouldnt be wrapped. Summit, or any other major car part manufacturer.

There was a thread about this yesterday, but I don't know how to attach.

I bought a Budget Y-pipe and had it installed about a month ago. A local raceshop told me not to use exhaust wrap on the flex section as it retains water and can result in damage to the flex section. They suggested I speak to the manufacturer. So I phoned Budget and they told me the same thing. They have had problems with wrapped flex sections and cautioned me not to use it. You won't get any benefit from wrapping the rest of the Y-pipe. Exhaust wrap, aka header wrap, is used primarily by race cars. See the attachment provided yesterday concerning the damage it can do to headers as a result of excessive heat retention. I would avoid the stuff like the plague.

I would not do it.
I will be a little more raspy than your stock y-pipe, but the gains you will get will be more than enough to make up for that.
The only time the raspiness is even a question to me with my Warpspeed y-pipe is when I am riding with the windows down and I am beside a building or something. Then, I can really hear it. Otherwise, it is not biggie.

I wrapped my Budget pipe. I had a bad knock sensor at the time so I wouldn't know if gains came from it or not. I do know after I wrapped it the hesitation wasn't as noticeable. I rather have it wrapped so I know its protected better. I've had it wrapped for about 4 months now and no problems.

I still have some bees in the can sound though. When I put the auto in first and gun it and at about 4K I let off the car makes a terrible rasp. I may wrap the flex section some more. I think a lot of it was the shops fault, he had a hell of time getting the stock one off, and I don't think he was too careful putting my Budget one in.

Wrapping it gets rid of most of the raspiness. If what they say is true though I guess you shouldn't wrap it after all.
