Power seat problem

my 98 max is having front passenger seat problems. It won't go back. One side of the seat moves and works, but the other does not. Do i need to replace whole seat or can i replace the bad motor/problem area? Anyone have a front passenger black leather seat for sale?

Do not worry about replacing the seat, there is no need. The problem is typically not difficult to fix.
The motor is on one side of the seat, and it (in an of itself) does not make both sides of the seat move. The motor drives a series of gears on its side, and the other side is driven by a cable that is attached to the motor and connects with the drive on the other side of the seat. Most likely, this cable has become disconnected making only one side of the seat moveable. You may unscrew this cable from the non-motor drive side with a pair of pliers. I removed my cable completely and re-greased it, then re-installed for a quick and easy fix. Inspect the cable for damage, and if needed, replace with a part from the salvage yard (good luck finding auto seats) or get this cable from the Dealership.

I believe I had the same problem the other day. Does the one side start to move, but then is stopped soon after since the other side won't move fore/aft at all? This was my problem. I got a little familiar with the seat when I put 350Z seat cushions and seatbacks onto the Maxima seatbpan and base. On my 98 SE driver's seat, to which I had this problem happen, there is one motor that moves the seat fore/aft. It is close to one side of the seat and controls the other side through a driveshaft. Each side has a long screwdrive that rotates to move the seat. One of my screwdrives was locked up, although I didn't figure out exactly why. There are two nuts attached to the front of the screwdrive that I loosened up a bit and used to take the screwdrive manually through a few rotations. Probably could've helped if I had greased them too, but so far so good.

Is it possible to move the seats manually, by screwing the screw?

Yes, but it's probably not the easiest thing to do on a regular basis. Also, if you turn the nuts on the screw counter-clockwise they might loosen off the screw entirely. The easiest way is to remove the seat entirely and mess around with one side at a time.
