1.5" drop vs. 2" drop

Ive kinda been deciding whether to get the Sprint 2" drop or the Maxspeed 1.5/1.3" drop. If you guys with 18s could post pics of your drop, and tell me if its a 1.5 or a 2" drop. Id appreciate it! thanks

The maxspeeds are about $100 shipped on ebay. I think the sprints are around $150, not quite sure tho. But the thing is if i get the sprints, i need to get better strut like KYB AGXs instead of KYB GR-2s if i get the maxspeeds. Anybody have an input let me hear it.

I can't help you on your question but there is a group deal for maxspeed springs for $90 shipped, we need 20 people for this and already have 6, here is the link.

I think Maxspeeds for 4th gens are only a little lower than SE springs. If i was you, i'd go lower, Eibachs, Progress, Sprints or something along those lines, providing the streets in your area are relatively good.

Arent the maxspeeds/eibachs/progresses all the same drop? Also, if any one can post pics of your drop, telling me what springs/struts, and how much lower it is

Uhh, SE springs aren't any lower than GLE or GXE springs.
My estimate would be that a 2" drop would be .5" lower than a 1.5" drop, just my guess though. I have, had, a 1.75" drop with arospeeds.

So I guess my other question is do you think its worth it to spend ABOUT $200 more for a 2" drop compared to 1.5" (springs are a LITTLE bit more expensive, but the struts recommended are a lot more)????

Not if the roads there are pretty rough. Your ride is already going to get a lot rougher going to 18's with lower profile tires. When you drop it, it will be even more exaggerated.

Man, I wish the roads here were not like driving on moon craters...I would get sprints or Tein S-Techs. Flavor and Sagamax are a motivation to all of us. ha ha

maybe try www.southwestautoworks.com for strut mounts. I think they have them, and are good.

Well I live in Michigan, winter, potholes, ect. So I guess I will just go with 1.5 for a while atleast. Maxspeeds you say arent very good? I just want a good 1.5" drop with a decent comfort level. And price is a thing too....

99Maxima5spd, how long have you been on those springs w/ just SE struts? Im just wondering how good those stock struts are holding out for ya, your drop looks SOOOO clean, 1.6" is perfect! im gonna look at those B&Gs, theyre really nice! Thanks btw.

i got Maxspeed springs and stuck shoks at first but shocks gave up on me in about 3 and half month. so i got KYB AGX shocks. So if u can do ur setup at once so u don't have to pay for labor twice. also if u replace ur upper shock mounts car will look higher

Lets see, ive been on them for roughly a year, year and a half (SE struts). Thanks for the compliment, but if your a 5speed like me, you may experience some slight rear sag. If your an auto, it should be about even...

Wow i didnt know this many people had SE struts w/ a drop! One year, 2 years still holdin out, thats good. But I think ive decided on B&Gs because its the perfect amount of drop, and since im getting 18s, i hope it looks like 99max5spd's. Thanks everyone for your inputs and pics.

Just to give you a heads up...

My front drivers strut just blew not to long ago, so its been about 29-31K miles since i have been lowered. Gives you an idea of how long the SE struts can last. Mind you, i had roughly 73-74K when i lowered it, and im at 105,5xx now...

Also, if your an auto, the drop will be damn near perfect, but if your a 5-speed, the lack of the auto weight *MAY* make your rear sag slightly. My buddy had this same setup and it DID NOT sag on his S/C'ed 5speed (Craig Mack), but for me it does.

Doesnt matter for me however, since i will be switching to Tein S-techs/GR-2s very shortly, so if someone wants these B+Gs, i will get rid of them cheap...

How much do you think youd sell those b&gs for? theyre about 160 new, and youve had them for ABOUT 30k miles. I dont know if springs get bad after a while, so im not sure if used springs are a bad idea or not?

eric- its cool just a thought..

maxgr97- i dont think there is anything wrong with buying used springs. just dont buy cut ones. springs are tough. a stock spring will last well beyond the life of the car no matter how bad you beat it.. only real way to ruin them is to apply them to enough heat to warp them.

maxspeed drop is very conservative. i doubt it is a 1.5. it looked like maybe a 1 inch drop. thats why i had to cut it. its been 2 years and im getting tired of the stiff ride. so im looking for new springs.

with your 2001, it might look ok because your stock gap isnt as bad as the 4th gen gap. ask around on the 5th gen forum.
