when I used to start my car, it used to start up very very fast and would stay at 1500rpm for the first min or so then go down from there as the car warmed up which is perfectly normal...

recently I installed matt blehm's grounding kit and had a lot of exhaust work done and my car barely wants to start...in addition, my car almost wants to die out for the first two seconds or so and then the rpm's stabilize at about 1900 rpm's or so for the first 2-3 mins or so.....

anyone else have this problem? my car starts up a lot faster when I put my foot on the gas pedal slightly then start the car...which is obvious...but I still have that really high idle problem for the first 2-3 mins...

need help!!!

have you cleaned the throttle body? sounds like the culprit to me...

my TB is incredibly clean....that wouldn't cause my car to almost not start....

would an exhaust leak or bad cat make my car almost not start, then idle higher than usual? or maybe the TPS? i dunno...no codes at all....0505....also...even when my car is cold now...my radiator fan is on low mode....the entire time...thermostat?

You put a grounding kit in which means you played with wires. Check every connection and sensor plug in the area you worked. You either have something unplugged or not seated correctly. I'd be looking at the engine coolant temp sensor really close. If that sensor is messed up your ECU could be reading a hot engine which could explain why your cooling fan is constatly on....

the engine coolant temp sensor resistance checks out fine....and no codes from it either...would the coolant temp sensor cause hard starting when my cars cold? and then a higher idle?

Maybe you should've had a PRO install them for you? High idle, maybe the MAF is loose or the IACV hose is loose.

Definately check all the wires that you touched man. Definately sounds like it could be your problem.

i just installed the BlehmCo grounding kit too, no problems. Did you use the factory ground locations?

i kinda have a problem similar to this after i cleaned out my intake manifold and TB. As well as replaced all of the vacum hoses.

My idle is only weird when i get on the freeway tho, for a long time at a constant high speed, once i slow down and stop my idle in drive is at 1100-1200 RPMS and then in park it idles at 1700+ RPMS

If i shut the car off and turn it back on it will stop and run back to normal, i have realized that this idling issue is controled by the possition of the ECU screw.. mine is REALLY sensative, and the slightest movement will effect the cold start idle and also start the high idle after the freeway problem..

For now it has been fine but, i will check the MAF and the IACV valve (btw where is that? pics?) we could possibly have a similar problem.

As for the coolant, i did relocate coolant line that runs through the TB (for colder areas to help the enine warm up) Is there a sensor in there for coolant temp? and even so, wouldnt it be colder and not hotter? therefore the fan SHOULDNT even turn on right?

BTW has anyone relocated that hose? it seemed like it was useless, input would be helpfull on this.

i checkout out my grounding kit and every ground it goes to...i even cleaned all the grounding locations...everything looks good to me...dunno...this problem didn't really happen after the grounding kit install...it happened after a shop changed a gasket on my cat....

would a cat or exhaust problem cause hard starting when cold and initial higher idle? water leaking from welds usually means a poor weld and it's leaking right?

would a bad coolant temp sensor cause any of these problems...

so earlier today, I looked at all my grounds and they look clean and perfect...can't see any problem with them or the matt blehm kit....it looks great..., checked all sensor connectors I could get to and all vacuum hoses, I also tightened up my exhaust a little....I still don't know why my car is having problems starting when really cold (3-4hrs sitting)

had my bro try starting it today...my car was sitting over night, then around noon, he cranked it over once and the rpm's when up and the car started then died out, then a second time, same thing...car started for about 2 seconds, then it struggled to stay on and then died, then a third time, he gave it a lot of gas right after it started, and I heard 2 very loud pops from my engine bay... then my car stayed on fine?!?!

so apparently on a cold start, my car won't stay on unless I give it some gas right at startup...after that, my car is just fine except for the fact that my fan stays on low even though my car is cold....ie. my fan never goes off!!! WTF???

once my car is on, it drives fine and sounds great, has good power, etc. I have a new battery and started by the way, so the problem has to be fuel related I guess...but wouldn't bad injector or coil pack set off codes? I have no codes at all...could it be something with my TPS or throttle body?

well i only have to give it gas the moment it starts up...then the car will stay on by itself from there...

fixed this problem! I cleaned my throttle body, which looked completely clean before I even touched it, problem still persisted, I then checked all my grounds and cleaned them, problem was still there....

I replaced my engine coolant temp sensor even though it wasn't throwing a code.....tested it with a multimeter and it was way out of spec...replaced it and $40 later, my car started up and ran fine...and the fan didn't stay on all the time anymore...
