its very possible that these weigh that much, find out what tire and size, and what rim and size and do a bit or research. there is a site something like www.wheelweights.net maybe that has a huge list, you could check there, and then search all the tire sites and see if you can find out the weight of the tire. good luck and good googly goo those are some big bad rims !

Let's just say your car will be a pig after those rims. The 97+SE 5spokes are heavy themselves but they only weigh 45-50 lbs with tires. DAMN. Also there is a formula or something that calculates the weight of additional rolling mass the wheels will put on. If the stocks were 45 and the new ones are 60 it's something like 15(difference in weight)x4(3 of wheels)=60, 60 x 8(have no idea why)=480. You'll have and 480lbs of rolling mass or something along those lines.

and if big d's calculations are correct that would result in .480 slower times at the track or something very close.

The weight is amplified by some factor because you get hit double. 1) the radius of the tire is larger and 2) there's more weight therefore more inertia to overcome when accelerating.

That isn't always true. If our stock tires are 25" diameter and you get some 17" rims with tires that are also 25"(thinner profile than stock) wouldn't it be the same thing? It still take the same distance to turn both wheels a full circle. I guess the only difference would be that the 17s have more mass further away from the center of the wheel.

Tires usually weigh more than rims. With a 17" tire a greater percentage of that tire weight will be further away from the hub.

Exactly what I was thinking same thing goes for bigger rotors. Thanks for the confirmation tire man.
