weight reduction
weight reduction
my friend was tellin me that in almost everycar, there is a material all over the car that is almost like tar, and it is extremely heavy. Tehe reason manufacturers put it in there is to reduce noise from driving. The main reason of this thread is to ask how to remove this stuff, my friend said u can take 100lbs off the weight of the car when it is completely removed, anyone else heard of this??
i have looked at the sound proofing, but was not brave enough to take it all out because of potential road noise. i may one day. check my cardomain page (6) for photos

notice the four sections on the floorboard, thats the sound proofing covering up the white

People that have removed sound deadening usually can get 30 lbs out of the car. Which is nice! I will do it one day since I can care less about road noise.
All carpet padding is going to get removed also.

i weighed the carpet awhile back 17 lbs, and aarons estimate on weight is more what im thinking, but hey dont turn your nose up to 30 lbs !
now i have hacked some of this stuff off over the wheels and it came off pretty easy, but i dont have the right stuff to get into the big stuff. you will kick your own tail if you dont have some good tools to tear this stuff off, lol !
