A/C Compressor Noise?!

When my A/C is on the compressor makes a noise somewhere between a whine and a hum. I know this is what it's supposed to do, but is it normal for a 4th gen with 100k miles? Are the bearings going to fail soon? Thanks.

Has anyone had to replace their a/c compressor? Does anyone else have this noise problem? Thanks.

Is it cooling satisfactorily. Noise can be due in general to these three things.

1. Leak and oil has leaked out resulting in not enough lubrication
2. Leak of R134a meaning that there's not enough R-134a to carry the oil around with it.
3. Clutch bearings wearing out.

The lack of oil is usually causing the problem. But don't rule out the idler pulley before looking into the more complicated stuff.

mine is being making that noise for about 3 years now. It kinda sounds like a supercharger. The air is ice cold so I' don't think I'll replace it soon. I just hope it doesn't break soon

My A/C wasn't that cold, but I just added some R134a to it and now it's ice cold. I know I have a leak somewhere, but I'll worry about it next year. It's making a small noise, but o well
